SEPWA Events 2005 in the Esperance Port Zone
Every year SEPWA organises various trials and events throughout the Esperance Port Zone to assist grain growers to produce quality grain and to become more profitable and sustainable.
Please note that you do not necessarily have to be a SEPWA member to attend these events, however there are discounted rates available for members. Field Days are Free for anyone to attend.

SEPWA Field Days
September/ October 2005
The Spring Field Days is a very busy time of the year with various field days held throughout the Esperance Port Zone taking in Condingup/ Beaumont, Wittenoom Hills/ Neridup, Cascade/ Coomalbidgup, Salmon Gums, Scaddan and Mt Madden. The Field Day season is launched with the Esperance Downs Research Station Field Day which is the premier event for the region.
SEPWA works in very closely with the Department of Agriculture and other local farming groups including PASE (Pulse Association of the South East) to bring the latest research and relevant information to farmers in the region.
SEPWA Beyond the Farm Gate Tour
August 2005
More than 30 participants from Lake King to Condingup ventured to Perth to look at the grains industry beyond the farm gate. The tour took in grain handling facilities, plant breeding laboratories, a maltster, a brewery, a grain quality testing centre and much more. The tour was made possible through the Grains Research and Development Corporation Industry Development fund.
SEPWA Ladies Day
August 2005
The SEPWA Ladies Day caters specifically for women as they are a skilled and integral part of the farming business. The day allows women to network and to gain more of an understanding of the grains industry and the farming business, in a safe learning environment. The day was supported by Partners in Grain.
Plant Available Water Content workshop
July 2005
This year SEPWA hosted a workshop, organised by CSIRO Sutainable Ecosystems through funding from GRDC, to help farmers make more informed decisions based on their soil water balance. The workshop provided the basis of understanding soil water and how its improved monitoring can impact on crop production, reference was made to both sandplain and mallee soil characteristics and their constraints.
