Improving the profitability & sustainability of Esperance port zone grain growers

Non-wetting soils in the Esperance Port Zone

Project Timeline: July 2014 - June 2019

As part of the GRDC’s investment in helping farmers manage non wetting soils across WA, SEPWA is assisting DAFWA in a five year project examining the amelioration of non-wetting soils in the Esperance port zone.

The aim of the project is to empower growers to identify their water repellent soils and provide knowledge of possible management options that best suits individual paddocks. SEPWA will be involved with DAFWA staff to assist in the monitoring, evaluation and capture of the results of on-farm grower testing, implementation and adoption of water repellence management options. From this information SEPWA will assist in the delivery of water repellence extension in the Esperance Port Zone as well as various information articles in the SEPWA newsletter.
