Improving the profitability & sustainability of Esperance port zone grain growers

Variable Rate Technology Book

This project revolved around extension of different VRT systems that growers are using. It involved visiting farmers at different stages of their VRT journey; and the use of farmer case studies on cost/benefit of applying variable rate fertilisers (What did they do? What did they find? Did they get the results they were expecting? Were there any hurdles to implementation?)

The primary output is to interview growers who have been using VRT over different lengths of time, with particular emphasis on those who are long term practitioners of VRT. To be included also are growers with a range of different input management (eg N, P, K, Lime) on a range of soil types, crop types and rainfall zones.

A case study booklet with accompanying background research on the history, benefits and science of VRT was printed and realeased. You can download a copy of the book by clicking on the link: Variable Rate Technology - Maximising Returns for Western Australian Grain Growers
